The temperature has FINALLY risen enough to encourage some thawing around the area.

End on the Horizon???

It did snow a bit this early afternoon, but not much compared to the past few days. I saw a bunch of birds out and couldnt resist this little guy with the snow on his beak. Hopefully we can start to see some thawing in the next few days!!!

State of Emergency

The mayor of Gresham has declared our town in a State of Emergency. The reason behind this decision is because emergency vehicles are not able to reach residents in southern Gresham, which begins a block north of where I live. The snow has reached almost 2 feet in the flat areas, with drifts going above my bottom windowsills. My car, well, its just a mound of snow. You cant see it at all.

Winter Solstice

Almost ironically, today is the first official day of winter. Last night was a crazy, stormy, snowy, windy, icey night. This morning the Portland Metro area, including Gresham, has pretty much come to a stand still.

At my house the foot of snow is covered by a thick layer of ice. The trees make a funny crackling sound in the wind.
