Wet and Snowy

A lot more rain and a little bit more snow fell over the past 24 hours. The whole northwestern region of Oregon is under flood watch. Most routes to the coast are closed. The small creeks that run through town, such as Johnson Creek, are all past flood stage. There are many landslides all over the area. But in Gresham, things seem to be ok. Just very wet :)

Happy New Year
Todays picture is of a Portland area favorite, Widmer Hefeweizen. Brewed by the Widmer Bros. Brewing Co. in Portland, it was the first American style Hefeweizen and is still one of the most popular wheat beers in the US.
I thought it was a fitting picture for the New Years Eve festivities to be enjoyed tonight!
Wishing you a happy, safe and healthy 2009!

Ice Wall

I did not take this picture recently (actually back in 2005) but with the cold weather we have been having, it made me think of it and pull it from my archives. Taken up on Mt Hood, the conditions that year were just right where it had not snowed enough to keep us from hiking up to a waterfall we know of. There was this wall of icicles. Something that normally you would not be able to get to since the snow at this steep location reaches 10 ft or more. But something told me that day to go check it out, and I am glad I did!

Multnomah Falls
Multnomah Falls is a huge tourist landmark that is about 20 min east of Gresham. All last week Multnomah Falls was pretty much inaccessable, due to the fact that I-84 was closed because of the weather. This happens often this time of year, and especially when things were as bad as they were.Sunday, December 28, 2008
