The Crazy Cool Dead Tree That Caught My Eye

I was walking the 2 mile trail around Trillium Lake with my dog last weekend, when out in the woods this dead tree caught my attention. All I really saw was the hole at the base of the largest branch, which to me looked like a perfect nesting hole for some critter. I left the trail and hiked through the bushes and branches to get to it. A clearing opened up and the old, dead tree stood alone. It reached out towards the sky, standing out against the living forest backdrop. I had to take a picture of it. When I got home and looked at it I thought it almost looked like the picture was taken with a fisheye lens. The forest really did seem to rotate around its presence. Very cool ;)

Fantastic! The tree looks enormous; the sky creates a perfect backdrop.
