Skywatch Friday - Looking West from Larch Mtn.

This is a choice from my archives. A few years ago during this time of year, I was able to walk up to the view point at Larch Mountain, which is about 25 miles east of Portland. This year, however, the road is still closed due to snow. This view is looking west towards the ocean, with the Columbia River winding below.

Rushing water indicates Mt Hood snow melting!

Around the foothills of Mt Hood, all the creeks and rivers are swollen with snow runoff. This creek is moving quickly, but the water is clear and clean. Larger area creeks in Gresham, such as Kelly Creek or Johnson Creek are fast moving as well, but much more muddy.
