Going to seed

These flowers are all over our area. This time of year the go to seed, putting off these clumps of cotton-like tuft to float away in the fall winds.

Rain is on its way...

All the forecasts are telling us that the rainy season is right around the corner. This weekend should be mostly clear, but then starting next week the clouds, like the ones pictured, will take over the skies and the long months of rain will begin. I am suprised, actually, that it has held out as long as it has! Gotta love the great northwest :)

Golden Thistle

I love the way the sun hit the crevaces and the prickles of this dried thistle head.

How "Autumn"...

The wind last week blew our first real layer of autumn leaves around the ground, and then the rain followed. I thought his picture had a true feeling of "autumn" to it.

Wild Rose Hips

Off the side of the path I take my dog to walk were these clusters of wild rose hips.

Monochrome Mountain

I thought changing this picture to black and white showed the new snow on the Mt Hood top at its best. Every couple of days, the clouds cover the practically bare autumn mountain, and when it emerges again, it has a new dusting of snow. The new snow doesnt last long, but soon it will have accumulated so much that we wont see Mt Hood bare again until summer of next year!
