All along the Salmon River trail, where I spent this past Saturday (and my entire childhood) exploring and taking photos, there were old fallen logs covered in bracket fungus.Tomorrow I will post a picture of the beautiful river and continue with my week of photos from Salmon River ... stay tuned ;)

That looks almost creepy, but fascinating, too! :)
I like the shot of the bracket fungus very much.
Now that's an interesting B for the day! Never heard of this before and I love it when I learn something new! Great capture! Hope your week is going well! Enjoy!

I am curious as to why it is called bracket fungus. What a lovely shot of fungus and what a lovely area to have grown up in to explore!
Very interesting - bracket but not bracken (kind of fern). Our business name was Bracken Gardens - but is no more so I feel I can share that!
I have never heard of Bracken fungus before. I find I am learning many new things since I joined ABC Wednesday.
This is a very strong photo and very impressive too!
Thanks for your visit.
To me the edges of the fungus look like those squiggly brackets on the typewriter keyboard. Is that why it's called Bracket Fungus?
What a wonderful thing bracket fungus is! And clever too, when you think about it. It's a degrader (eating away at the rotten wood) and yet it is productive. I understand that some brackets are edible, but I wouldn't care to stake my life on which was which!
Fungi can be beautiful and this Bracket Fungus is gorgeous. Nifty picture!
don't usually think of fungi as BEAUTIFUL, but this qualifies

Great choice for B and a wonderful picture of the Bracket Fungus.
That is an interesting name for Fungus. Bracket, sounds more like a last name of someone who may of discover this fungus.
My first visit to your blog here which I found from the ABC Wednesdays 7th Round blog.
Enjoying your many other photos as well.
This is so natural! Would look wonderful framed, behind my wooden bowls and mushroom ornaments on my sideboard! Will have to get my paint out!
Agree with the comment about how much we learn on an ABC Wednesday - love it. Thanks.
