Last Clear View???

This could be the last clear view of Mt Hood before the clouds cover it for the winter. The mountain looks sooooo bare!!!! Its almost shocking. This view is from Mt Hood Meadows, which is a ski/snowboard resort on the southeast side of the mountain. Portland is on the west side, so this is a different view than I am accustomed to seeing when I glance up from my area.

Once it starts raining (which it has actually done today), its cold enough up there now to start to accumulate snow. When I was a kid growing up only 10 miles from the base of Mt Hood, it snowed almost every Halloween. That's next weekend. I dont think we are going to reach that this year, but the snowfall will follow shortly thereafter.

What a fab photo of a fab place.
Have you been up it?
Are there trails?
Makes our landscape seem so mundane.

A fabulous view it is. It was actually snowing when I woke up and sure enough chaos followed.

Isn't it sad when the mountains hide for the winter? Been there, seen that with Mount Baker when I lived in BC by the border.

The first time that I ever saw Santi Hoho was looking toward Mt. Hood. I always think of that when I see an image of it and yours is very pretty too~

That is so amazing and the sky is so clear. Glad you shared it before winter got to it.

Awesome pic! But if you get part of the storm we're getting, Hood will get snow, cause it's forecast for the Cascades.
