A few days ago, I posted a photo of an aging Trillium flower, and explained that I had found it amongst the hundreds of blooms at the appropriately named Trillium Lake. Trillium Lake is my favorite place on Mt Hood. Other than the number of Trilliums that bloom around it, there are many other distinct features. The view of Mt Hood cannot be beat. It can be seen in my profile picture. One of my faves though is the old tree at the north end. There use to be two old trees, but a few years ago one of them fell. Now there is just this one. It is much taller than the surrounding live trees, and is covered by bright yellow lichen. In the summer, its base is surrounded by water lilies. I want to raft out and take a picture of it from below. Maybe this year I will do that!
