A few days ago, I posted a photo of an aging Trillium flower, and explained that I had found it amongst the hundreds of blooms at the appropriately named Trillium Lake. Trillium Lake is my favorite place on Mt Hood. Other than the number of Trilliums that bloom around it, there are many other distinct features. The view of Mt Hood cannot be beat. It can be seen in my profile picture. One of my faves though is the old tree at the north end. There use to be two old trees, but a few years ago one of them fell. Now there is just this one. It is much taller than the surrounding live trees, and is covered by bright yellow lichen. In the summer, its base is surrounded by water lilies. I want to raft out and take a picture of it from below. Maybe this year I will do that!

I spotted these bright orange mushrooms growing out of this stump on a hike I took last weekend. The saturated ground makes for a perfect mushroom environment. I'm glad that the mushrooms appreciate the constant rain, cause its getting a little old for us humans!

Junes theme for City Daily Photo is "Funny Signs". I had a few to choose from, but had not ever posted this one before. Located on the corner of 82nd and Division in Portland is this creatively named chinese restaurant :)
