It has been HOT here in Oregon the past few days. We have broken records the past two days I believe. Yesterday was 98 degrees when I left work. I have been waiting until after dusk to water my yard. Its the only time that it is comfortable to be outside. But this weekend its supposed to cool down to the mid 80's, which is perfect for me!

Its interesting how the weather has been gloomy, rainy, cloudy and otherwise miserable for months now, and yesterday, it just decided to be summer. Its already 84 degrees and not even noon yet. This is the hottest its been all year so far. Hopefully the nice weather sticks around. This was taken after a good watering of my poor, shocked garden. I will need to go home and drown them again tonight. I am sure they need it!

The poor gardens in our area are struggling along. The rain and clouds are not promoting growth, so some plants are a bit behind. These iris only recently opened. There are quite a few varieties in our neighborhood. I like these best, with the bold yellow centers and the dark purple. Forecast says its supposed to be 90 by the end of this week. We will see ;)

I truly am terrible at taking pictures of fireworks. I need to learn whatever technique people use that makes them look better. The above pic is one of the better ones I took last night of the fireworks display we enjoyed up in Vancouver Washington (Oregon has VERY strict rules on fireworks, so many people cross the Columbia River to enjoy the better displays up in the state to our north). The only reason I like this picture is the variety of colors that I managed to capture. Ho Hum. Maybe by next year I will learn to do better ;)
