The results are in! A few months back I posted about my
Tomato Garden Test. Basically, I had purchased one of those Topsy Turvy tomato planters. I planted one tomato plant there, and another plant in my regular garden. I wanted to determine which method truly worked better.
The cherry tomato plant that I planted in my garden is about 4 ft high and is significanly spilling over the tomato cage I have supporting it. Branches have actually broken and been removed because of the number of fruit the plant has produced. At the present time, there are about 50 red ripe tomatoes just like the one pictured. I had a handful on my salad last night!!!
The topsy turvy plant is a barely living, yellowing, pathetic looking plant. It did produce 4 tomatoes. One of which has still yet to turn red.
The winner by a LANDSLIDE is the regularly planted in-the-ground plant. I suggest if you want to still try the ol' Topsy Turvy, ask around to the friends that tried it this year. They probably had similar results as me and would be happy to give up the contraption. Or just build your own by drilling a hole in the bottom of a bucket or plastic planter. That seems to work just the same!

Plans in our little family change. My husband and I are very indecisive people. Our vacation has changed a half a dozen times. A few weeks ago, we were going to California to visit a friend and my grandparents. Last week it was a tour of the Cascade Lakes. Yesterday it was camping. Now we are back to our original plan and will be heading out to California after a short stop in Prineville, OR to visit my Dad and other family. I cant wait!
