It is quite hard to motivate myself to go outside and take any pictures. Normally on Wednesdays, I post an outdoor pic or watery pic. But the water outside is frozen due to the cold weather, and I am not venturing outside for the same reason! So I decided that this picture would be appropriate. I took it on the drive to my Dad's house in Prineville last year. This is literally in the parking lot of a rest area in Warm Springs, OR. The autumn colors and dawn fog were so beautiful. We wont be taking this route to my Dads this year because of the heavy snowfall. The drive over Mt Hood is too treacherous. So we will be going a different route east. Hopefully I can spot something picturesque going that way to post next week!Wednesday, November 24, 2010

The Start of Snow

A white, icy blanket has covered the northwest. This is just outside of town, where the snow is a bit deeper. In town, there is only a light dusting of the white stuff, and the main worry is the ice. It is supposed to remain quite cold today, but clear and sunny. It should start to warm up for Thanksgiving.

First Frost of the Year

It has been a cold one here in the Portland Metro area! On Saturday there was a good coat of frost on everything by 10pm. Yesterday we had our first snowfall too, although nothing came close to sticking near my home. The higher elevations have had accumulation though. It is threatening to snow again today/tonight. It makes for an interesting Thanksgiving week, thats for sure!
