I have always liked this picture. The colors are great, but my favorite part is the mist forming below the cloud line.

Steamy Hot Springs

I have a short list of places I want to go visit this winter to do some photography. This location is one of them. I took this photo a few years back, about this time of year. Its a hot springs up in the Clackamas River wilderness, near the fork to the Collowash River. During the summer, many people camp here for extended periods of time. This time of year it is more abandoned, and better for exploring on your own. Also, the steam is more visible in the colder air. The water is unexpectedly hot in some places, so you have to be careful not to slip and burn yourself. Ask my dog :( -- Dont worry, he was fine. Just a little surprised!!!

Valley

Another photo from Central Oregon, this time of the Deschutes River Valley. I'm not sure what type of building was down on the valley floor, but possibly a mill of some sort. It was very dilapidated.

Missing Blue Skies

To the east side of the Portland Metro area is a large stretch of land, between the towns of Gresham, Boring and Sandy. This land holds many scattered farms and nursuries, such as this one pictured. This time of year they switch from the spring blooming trees and summer plants to Christmas tree sales. I took this photo about a week ago, on a surprisingly blue sky day (but it was COLD!). This week, the weather has been wet and cloudy, but actually quite warm (its is 56 degrees as I post this, which is warm for a December day in Oregon). Not too good for all that snow that you can see covering Mt Hood in the distance! I can imagine it is a soggy, slushy mess!
