Icy Evening

Last night there was a winter storm warning for the Portland Metro Area. Temperatures have been below freezing for days now, but there had been no precipitation. Things changed yesterday at about 3pm in the area and made it to my work and home around 5pm. It was snowing a little, which changed to hail and freezing rain for the remainder of the evening. However, at about midnight the temperatures started to rise and this morning most of the ice was melted on the roads. Driveways, porches and sidewalks were a different story. Mine still had a thick, slippery layer, as seen in the photo!

I remember icy walks from when we lived in the Eastern Sierra. No fun, dangerous to walk on no matter how careful you are.

It snowed a little at my house in the Cascade Foothills, but was gone by morning. However, on the way to work I noticed that the snow/slush was heavier the closer I got to Tacoma. I'm glad it's raining now. I'm so done w/ freezing temps and snow. I'm happy with 40 and rain.

I'd rather have snow than ice any day. Stay safe and warm.

Well I am glad it melted, that freezing rain can be dangerous.

WATER SEEKERS

See the water seekers go
Up and down and two and fro,
Looking for a drop or two
Of wet stuff to share with you!
