An interesting view of the normally calm Salmon River. This particular hole is deep and usually slow moving, not a white ripple in sight. Perfect for fishing. But during the winter the river rises even higher and moves quite fast. The normally clear water becomes green from the glacial runoff on Mt Hood.

Fast Moving Slow River
An interesting view of the normally calm Salmon River. This particular hole is deep and usually slow moving, not a white ripple in sight. Perfect for fishing. But during the winter the river rises even higher and moves quite fast. The normally clear water becomes green from the glacial runoff on Mt Hood.

That is about the greenest river I ever saw. I kinda like it and think it is pretty in that color.
BRRRRRRR Bet it's freakin FREEZIN too!
I'm particularly interested in the color of the mud along the banks of the river. It looks like the red earth in much of northern Arizona.
