Posting Hood for 'H' on ABC Wednesday almost feels like cheating... almost ;) I blogged another landscape photo I took at the same time as this one last week. But I really liked zooming in as much as I could from my vantage point at Jonstrud Viewpoint in Sandy (about 30 miles) and showing how much snow Mt Hood is boasting right now. There is not a spot of rock showing through the thick snow cover. The foothills are also white. A perfect winter Mt Hood. The snow doesnt ever totally go away. The glaciers on the mountain that face towards the ocean make this mountain the only one in North America that offers year round skiing and snowboarding. There are multiple camps (I worked for one - Windells - when I was in my 20's) during the summer months, and professionals visit the mountain to keep their skills fresh!

Mt. Hood sure is a gorgeous mountain. You are NOT cheating (at least in my book.) Is it snow covered throughout the year?

Wonderful photo. I agree with Roger, you didn't cheat in the least. It's really something to get a shot of a coastal mountain without a bit of rock showing. I love it. I also love that gray cloud scarf the mountain is wearing.

Wonderful photo of Mount Hood. I love the way it rises up out of nowhere -- just as Mount Baker and Mount St. Helens do.
