Lost

I am posting a series of photos today, hoping someone can help me solve a mystery. I was hiking behind Trillium Lake up in the Mt Hood National Forest a few weekends ago. The path I was following had taken me about a mile north of the lake. The trail was deserted; I saw no one else on the path except my dog. All of a sudden to my left I saw this car out in the bushes, about 20 ft off the path. I made my way over and the mystery began. First of all, does anyone know what kind of car this is? It had obviously been there for a really long time. Secondly, I have no idea how it got there in the middle of the woods! There is no evidence of even an old abandoned logging road out where I was, so I can't imagine how it ended up at this final resting place. Kinda creepy really. But interesting!

Well, I can't identify its make, but I do know it is very old because I remember the window and door handles. There has been plenty of time for the woods to grow up around it, obliterating any traces of an old track that probably wasn't a real road at any time.
On the other hand, there is no engine, so it might not have weighed a lot, and could have been put there as a prank. Either way, it has been there more than 50 years, I'm pretty sure, probably close to 60 years.

I don't know what kind it is, but it's beautiful. Nice that there's still so much blue. You have documented it very well.

It sort of looks like an old Studebaker pickup I once helped to restore. Very curious! :)

A graveyard for old cars junked, abandon unceremoniously is my best guess!!

It reminds me of an old car in our Northern Ontario backyard (33 acres).

Great shots of your mysterious abandoned car. Maybe some homeless person made use of it a very long time ago. Its very old as someone said because of the door handles and bumpers that look like a Studebaker.

So did a car get stolen and abandoned? Mystery indeed.

I love finding stuff like this. It very well may go back to early 20th century logging, we're so overgrown here in the Pacific Northwest. Cool find!

I LOOOOVE mysteries! But sadly can't help you with this one as I know nothing about cars - except that this old rusting one makes mighty fine shots!

That is sooooo COOL! And a little bit creepy too, I might add. Who knows who dumped it there and why. Could have been a bank job during the depression. It looks way older than 60 years; remember that would have only been 1951. No license plate? Maybe do some research on crimes in the area from 70-80 years ago?

Oh, what a wonderful story this scenario would make. Okay, all you writers out there!
