The first snowfall of the year hit the lower lying mountain communities this past week. I drove up on Sunday and was forced to turn around and seek a hiking area in lower elevation, since I did not have proper traction for the conditions. Areas as low as Sandy had snow on the sides of the road, and a few miles up the highway in Rhododendron, the side roads were not accessible to anyone not sporting 4 wheel drive at the very least.

  1. NOOOOOOOOO! Oh, well. We had snow - long gone - in late Octobrrrr.

  2. Happy snowspotting on your beautiful mountain!

  3. We don't need any snow. But it looks nice on your picture.

  4. If you check my blog post from today, you'll see shots of our first snowstorm too, on Oct. 29 and 30.

  5. Haven't had snow down at our level yet, but the mountains got some. But we did get a hard freeze and lots of wind. - Margy

  6. The snow on the ferns is beautiful. I can’t get over how green the ferns are. Amazing. Lovely shot and such a nice capture. genie

  7. Yup, couldn't get very far up at Mt St Helens.
But isn't it all so gorgeous!

  8. I thought someone would choose S for Snow. I notice you're still hiking - hope the pregnancy is going well.

  9. Brrrr, makes me chill already!

    Shoes, have a happy Thanksgiving!

I appreciate everyone that stops by to check out the Mt Hood to Portland, Oregon area through my photos ... Have a wonderful day!
