Whenever we go anywhere, I always ask my son, "Do you want to go on an adventure?" At his age, everything is an adventure, even going to the mailbox. But this past weekend we went on his longest adventure yet, a drive east up the Columbia River Gorge to The Dalles to visit friends. The views out there are so very different from the lush green ones we enjoy here. The Dalles is just coming into the more desert-like areas of Oregon. They still have pine trees, but also are very dry already. Their days are hotter and nights colder than we have in the Portland Metro area.
This view was taken on a winding road above The Dalles. I had to stop and photograph the old barn! I will post a few more photos from our adventure later this week.

A lovely composition but worried about the bald areas those patches need some replanting. I wish all of us do our share in planting trees wherever we are. The vegetation is very green, which means they are still enjoying the conditions!

That's a lovely scene. Always wanted to visit that neck of the woods, but haven't made it there yet. Someday, though, I'll have my own Oregon adventure.
