I love these flowers. We had them in simple pots at our wedding reception 3 years ago, and every year since I have made sure I have them planted in my garden.

Missing Mt St Helens

This weekend there is some extended family in town, and they are all going up to Mt St Helens. I have plans already made (of which I am so excited for). So unfortunately, I wont be able to go with them. I am a bit bummed, since I never miss an opportunity to go see the devastation and regrowth that is happening up there. But this old photo I took from a trip last year will have to do for now! I took this one with my fisheye lens for the slightly more rounded look of the valley.

Beads of Dew

A fairly typical summer day in my neck of the woods of Oregon begins with the sky being overcast, and by 11 or noon, the clouds have burned off to reveal the warm day. From there the temperatures rise into the 80's. With the overcast mornings, however, everything is often covered in a layer of dew. I spotted this right outside my back door. The spiderweb on my plant had caught the droplets in it overnight.

Maidenhair Fern

I have posted a few pictures of different types of ferns, such as the licorice fern or the sword fern. This is the maidenhair fern, also known as the angel hair fern. It is most common in damp areas of the forest, like along streams or growing out of damp rock faces.
