Sun Setting Over The 205

Taken last month, this is a view over the Columbia River. In the distance, you can see the Glenn Jackson Bridge (or I-205 Bridge), which spans the river from Oregon to Washington.

The temperature is supposed to break 100 degrees here in the Portland area today. That's hot for this neck of the woods. Wherever you are, stay cool!

Watering My Roses

I had a pretty successful gardening year this year, considering I didn't do much of anything to make it happen. I knew last year that my time gardening would be limited with a newborn, so I planted accordingly. These rose bushes were here when I moved in and have always struggled, but this year seem to have turned a corner and are putting off some gorgeous and very fragrant flowers! I especially liked this one, with its white interior and bright pink exterior petals.

Eastern View

From my neck of the woods near Portland, you look east to view Mt Hood. From the town of Hood River, where I visited this past weekend, you would look west. This is the view from the eastern side of the mountain, from one of the lavender fields we visited.

Lavender

Yesterday we took a drive east to Hood River and visited a few lavender farms out there. I will be posting some of the pretty field photos I took this week.

The fields were so full of bees. The sound of it was incredible. As I walked through the rows of lavender, I kept saying to myself "don't get stung, don't get stung". But the bees were pretty busy and into their work and didn't seem to notice me.
