Orange You Glad It's Friday #23

Welcome to week 23 of Orange You Glad It's Friday!

How was everyone's week? Mine was long winded. I had a very busy weekend last weekend with hiking to take photos, visiting two sets of family that were in town, photographing a baby announcement for my BFF, and then graduating into the long week of work and all that that brings. Glad for a hopefully fairly easy weekend to come.... but we will see about that!

This photo is very reminiscent of my childhood. When I was growing up, my family had a horse named Poco that was this exact color. This photo, submitted by Cheryl Ann of Desert Horses, is just like his mane used to be. There is also a very cute shot of his ears on the same post, which was also a great reminder of the past. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Cheryl Ann!

Journey to My Stomping Grounds

I am partial to this trail. It is a short mile from my home when I was growing up. I spent a lot of time here when I was growing up, and try to visit as much as I can now. I have not ventured out here during the winter much in the past few years, but did last weekend. I love the simple beauty of the snow along the path as we walked along in the shade from the old growth forest into patches of sun from above.

Salmon River Side Creek

This is a small creek that trickles down along the Old Salmon River Trail outside of Welches, Oregon -- my hometown and old stomping grounds. I trekked out there this past weekend and loved the ice and snow that had been kept intact since our last precipitation a few weeks ago, due to the cold weather and shade of the deep old growth forest.

Bracket Pierced

Came across this amazing oddity while hiking along Eagle Creek between Sandy and Estacada. This enormous bracket fungus (otherwise known as shelf fungus) was about 2 feet wide and had stems from a nearby plant literally growing through it. I had never seen anything like it and had to capture its photograph.

And on a side note, today is my 800th blog post. When I started blogging again a few years back, I never thought I would keep it up this long, continue to learn photography like blogging has encouraged me to do, opened up such awesome opportunities to showcase my photos, and make such awesome friends through comments here on Blogger as well as Facebook. Thanks to everyone for keeping me on my toes!

Frosted Ivy

I did not have to go very far to take this photo. This ivy plant grows in a pot on my back porch, and with the cold weather we have been having lately, the frost is a common occurrence in the mornings.
