On a visit last weekend to the Camassia Natural Preserve in West Linn, the last bits of Common Camas dotted the landscape. It is the end of its blooming season, but these three busy bees didn't seem to mind!

This is Willamette Falls, which is a waterfall located between Oregon City and West Linn. I took this photo from the Arch Bridge, which crosses the Willamette River downstream from the falls. On either side of the river you are able to see buildings belonging to paper and power generation companies. Until 2011, boats were able to pass through locks to continue upstream.
A few years ago I took a speed boat trip up the Willamette River from downtown Portland to the base of these falls. Someday I will have to do it again, and bring a waterproof camera!

On Sunday, my brother, son and I visited the Camassia Natural Preserve in West Linn. I had never been to the park before, but it was worth the mile stroll. The preserve trail is mostly these slatted footbridges, which leads you through rocky plateaus and marshy wetlands. We came a few weeks too late to really get the effects of the wildflowers, as the blue ones pictured here are the namesake of the preserve, Common Camas, normally are much more abundant. We apparently came to visit during the yellow Buttercup stage ;)

Our rains had returned last week, and with it, more mushrooms. I do not mind. They are so fun to find and photograph. These tiny orange fungi were only about 1/2 inch tall, and I almost didn't even see them!
