Back in August of 2010, I had not gotten the itch for macro photography that I have now. This photo, taken with a little point and shoot, inspired me to learn more about taking close-ups. I remember when I first saw the photo downloaded on my computer, I fell in love with the dusting of pollen in the hairs on the bees back and knew at once that it was something I wanted to do more with. I since have purchased a macro lens for my soon to be replaced broken Nikon, and continue to keep my eyes peeled for such awesome photography opportunities.

Happy Independence Day to my fellow American bloggers!
I am sure kids all over America will be anxiously awaiting the moments after sundown tonight, so I chose this archive image to share today.
Someday I would love to be at this same spot again, at the same time and see a sunset as pretty as this one. I took this old photo back in March of 2005. This is the view from Larch Mountain, looking down on the Columbia River at dusk.

As I mentioned in yesterdays post, my camera has broken. I have ordered a replacement, and it should be here sometime in the next week or so. Until then, I am dipping into my archives to share some of my favorite photos.
Taken back in June of 2010, this was one of my favorite photos I took that year. I loved the flying water drops!

Back in March of 2006, the camera that I had at the time stopped working. Photography is something I so enjoy, and I had to go get a new camera! My boyfriend at the time, who is now my husband, helped me purchase a brand new Nikon D50. Though the model has been discontinued and many better have been released, I have used that camera ever since. I learned a lot with my camera friend. Yesterday I took it out to go on a photo excursion and it was broken. I was able to snap one photo of my son before the mirror froze and the shutter stopped working.
While it is repairable, because it is so old, its repair costs are more than it is worth. But man, I love that camera. I did a check and discovered that it lasted through just over 28,800 shutter actuations. So many wonderful memories captured with it. I immediately went on eBay and purchased a used one of the same model to get me through until I can afford to buy an upgrade.
Today's photo was the last salvageable photo I took with it. (No, I did not drop it in the water or get it wet. I took this a few days ago.) This is an urban waterfall/fish ladder on Johnson Creek behind my husbands parents home in Portland.
Needless to say, until my replacement camera arrives, I have a dilemma. I may just not post, or I may post old stuff. Should only be a few days either way :)

Boy oh boy has the weather taken a turn! It is HOT, and only expected to get hotter this week. The warmer weather has made the flowers go crazy, and it seems like I am constantly watering. Quite the opposite of what we have had in the past month or so!
