There is not much in the way of flowers left in our gardens beds around here. In mine, there are only a few straggling daisies and the like. I spotted this tiny green garden spider perched on a Black Eyed Susan. He definitely saw me coming at him with my camera though, because he took off really quickly right after I snapped my shutter.

Lost Lake

This pretty scene is of Lost Lake, with Mt Hood looming in the background. Believe it or not, I have never taken the time to go to Lost Lake. It has a very nicely maintained resort and campground. The trails were easy to walk, even pushing my sons stroller. And the water was nice and warm, perfect for a baby to get out and splash and throw rocks!

Relaxing Place

We took a drive to the northwest side of Mt Hood and visited Lost Lake this past weekend. I had actually never been to Lost Lake in all my years of living here, and we had a great time. We walked along the banks of the lake, taking in the warm day. Once we reached the end, we relaxed at a spot much like this one pictured and let my son splash in the waters.

We are just starting to see little inklings of change between summer and autumn, including this small mushroom I spotted on a walk through the woods this past weekend. Hints of the season to come are everywhere, from the smell in the air, to the slight change of color in some of the highest leaves in some maple trees.

We were walking through the woods on Sunday. The day was quite warm, but the ground still damp from the recent rainfall. All of a sudden we can to a small open sunny area and there were a lot of these beautiful little orange and black butterflies fluttering around. I waited until I spotted this one land on a tree and begin to bask in the sun, and then took the opportunity to sneak in for this photo.
