The higher up Mt Hood into the alpine areas you go, the farther back in the season the plants are in the blooming stage. The rhododendrons stopped blooming almost a month ago in the Portland Metro area, however, when we camped at Clear Lake almost two weekends ago, our view towards the lake included these rhodies plants, which were all in their blooming prime.

Interesting, isn't it, how our location makes such a difference in our surroundings. We can go just a few miles south and find they are way ahead of us in the spring blooming and now the summer heat (that last one I am willing to wait for). This is truly a beautiful shot.
