Mt. Hood's Sahalie Falls

There are more than one Sahalie Falls in Oregon. The Sahalie Falls on Mt Hood is hidden away right off Hwy 35. You can drive right up to it, or take a hike on the nearby Sahalie/Umbrella Falls Loop Trail. Because we had my son with me, we opted to just drive in, as I have taken the trail before and it is a bit too difficult for my 3 year old. The road is actually a portion of the historic Mt Hood Loop Highway, and a newly restored bridge crosses the East Fork Hood River just below the falls. Here you can stand and get a pretty nice view. I went underneath the bridge and scrambled up some rocks to try to get a better view, but a lot of the falls is obscured this time of year by trees. However, I did notice a lovely rainbow in the falls from the sunlight that was just peaking through the clouds above.

  1. It's a pretty waterfall.

  2. Beautiful! I can only imagine how beautiful it would be in person!

  3. Looks like this is quite a tall falls, or is that just a top-notch camera angle?

Love the silky water shot. It looks like a strong waterfall. I can already hear the sound of the water in my head.

  5. A very pretty fall of water and love how the greens frame the falling water too.

  6. Waterfalls are always so interesting as you sometimes can't tell where they are coming from. I think I see a faint rainbow, too. Great shot.

I appreciate everyone that stops by to check out the Mt Hood to Portland, Oregon area through my photos ... Have a wonderful day!
