Bracket Invasion

This old maple has a bad case of the shelf fungus! All the way around its trunk were clumps of the brackets. Pretty, but also pretty damaging to the tree.

  1. They look bigger than the ones we sometimes see on trees here in this part of the continent.

  2. Didn't know this was caused by a fungus! How cool though I am sure it is not healthy for the tree!

  3. It looks like a face on the tree trunk. I can see the eyes and the nose. It is interesting to learn about the fungus and the damage it can do.
