Winter Sunset Reflection on Lake Salish

There have been some stunning sunsets this past month. I have missed the opportunity to capture any of them due to my hectic schedule. However, on Monday evening I was headed back from running errands and noticed the sun getting low in the sky. My son and I took a detour from home and stopped by one of my favorite sunset locations, nearby Lake Salish. We walked around the lakes waiting for the sun to set, and when it did, this was the result!

View of Mt Hood from Sauvie Island

This crazy nice weather has us Oregonians out and about! It feels like spring, but it is still only January. Mt Hood revealed itself in all its fresh snowy glory. I shot this from the farmlands on Sauvie Island.

Crossing Over to Sauvie Island

Sauvie Island is a large, 26,000 island in the Columbia River, just a short 10 minute drive from Portland. Once you cross the bridge, it seems like you enter an entirely different world. The island is home to many expansive farms and a huge wildlife refuge. This photo of the bridge crossing the Multnomah Channel nicely depicts the feeling of the island -- quiet and secluded
