Very Early Plum Blossom

The groundhog was wrong if he was trying to predict the Portland Metro areas weather, because spring has sprung. There are daffodils and crocus all over the neighborhood, and the plum trees in my back yard have bloomed about a month earlier than last year!

North Falls

Might as well keep with the posting of the waterfalls I visited this weekend at Silver Falls State Park. This was the first of three waterfalls I visited that day -- North Falls. If you look closely you can see that the trail also goes behind this 136 ft drop of water. There are even a few benches that you can sit on in the deep cavern behind the waterfall and listen to the roar. The sound is intense as the water hits the rocks at the bottom with incredible force.

Middle North Falls

Sunday was an amazingly gorgeous day. The sun was out. The temperatures reached 65 degrees. And yes, it was only the middle of February! While the rest of the country is still experiencing winter, we have jumped right into spring around here.

I took a nice walk around Silver Falls State Park and visited 3 waterfalls I had not been to before. This was the last one I visited, Middle North Falls. You can see that the path of the trail leads behind the massive falls. Of the half dozen waterfalls I have visited in the park over time, this one so far has been my very favorite. It is amazingly gorgeous!
