Overlooking Cape Horn

Cape Horn Overlook, off Highway 14 along the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge, is a easy spot to get out, stretch your legs and take in the beauty that the pacific northwest has to offer. It is especially pretty in the autumn, when the golden leaves dot the landscape.

Dougan Falls

Washougal River's Dougan Falls is amazing! What an awesome spot! It is very, very easy to access and can be viewed right from your car if you happen to travel to it on a rainy day like I did. Despite the consistent downpour, I got out of the car of course. It was not hard to navigate down to the rivers edge to capture the plentiful water that swirled around the base before collecting itself again and heading further downstream.

Streets of Autumn

During the heavy rains and blustery autumn winds, it does not take long for a tree lined road to be overwhelmed by leaves. This country drive is a perfect example!

Yesterday was very rainy here in the Portland Metro area. However, I had been indoors all weekend and needed to get out, regardless of the constant downpour. We visited Smith and Bybee Lakes in North Portland and enjoyed the totally abandoned trails. We got rained on very heavily, but the raindrops made for awesome macro photo subjects! According to my field guide, this mushroom is most likely a golden pholiota. But as always, because I am never 100% sure, I always err on the side of caution and use a "photograph and don't touch" rule.
