Sun Shines Through Spring Blossoms

It is the first official week of spring! The sun came out this past weekend and gave us a real taste of what is to come in the near future.

Headwaters of Bridal Veil Creek

About ten miles above the Historic Columbia Gorge Highway and Bridal Veil Falls are the headwaters of Bridal Veil Creek. They can easily be accessed off Larch Mountain. We took a nice rainy day hike down Palmer Mill Road a ways and enjoyed watching the waters rush over the rocks and down the creek beds.

Getting Close to the Painted Hills

The road driving into John Day Fossil Beds National Monument's Painted Hills Unit is pretty amazing. You pass little sneak peeks of what is to come inside the actual park. This hill was a few miles away from the actual entrance, but I liked that you could get so close to the beauty and how it was surrounded by the pretty sage. Strips of laterite give this hill its distinctive bands of color.
