Neskowins Island

I might as well share one last photo of Proposal Rock, where I often found myself pointing my lens during a recent trip to Neskowin. Proposal Rock is a sea stack just at the edge of the ocean, named for the turn of the century marriage proposal of Charles Gage to Della Page. I wandered back up the beach along Slab Creek and snapped this photo, with the sun barely shining through the thick storm clouds collecting above. I love me a good coastal storm!

Proposal Rock Reflections

I visited the tiny beach town of Neskowin two weeks ago and because of my busy schedule, have not been able to post the photos until this week. Once I got home I realized I had taken many photos of Neskowin's most prominent feature, Proposal Rock. On the second day we were there, it was very foggy, and I took this photo as the fog was finally starting to burn off and back over the rock.

Ghost Forest at Neskowin

On the second day of a recent trip to Neskowin, Oregon, there was a very thick fog that rolled in from the ocean. I know that in the low tide, the remains of an ancient "ghost forest" can be seen on the south side of the rock. I crossed Slab Creek and walked as far down the beach as I could until you could barely make out the silhouette of Proposal Rock with the ghost forest standing guard around it.
